COMPANY HISTORY

Central Transport Refrigeration (Man.) Ltd. was incorporated in 1969 by Ian Dessler’s family. Sometime in the early years, the Dessler family took on the Carrier Transicold transport refrigeration dealership; selling, installing and repairing the “Carrier Transicold” brand of refrigeration equipment for transport trucks and trailers. We value this relationship, as Carrier Transicold is the fourth largest corporation in North America. In 2008 Carrier Transicold had 41,000 employees and revenues of $14.9 B US. CTR has the exclusive rights to the Carrier line in Manitoba and we are one of the largest transport refrigeration unit suppliers.

CTR operated strictly as the Carrier dealership until approximately 1985. Russ and Joan Johnson purchased CTR in 1982, three years later they made the decision to add an aftermarket automotive and industrial supply division to the business. The Johnson’s had a background in the automotive industry and they made an excellent decision in expanding the company.  In the early days our warehouse consisted of one shelf of inventory!  Today we have over 2,000,000 skews and over 850 product lines.

In 2007 the business was purchased by Don and Alison Harvey who have continued the tradition of family ownership at CTR. Don added a new product line of Comfort Pro auxiliary power units (APU’s) and continued to grow CTR's line of Carrier product, parts and exceptional customer service. Today, CTR has 50 employees and operates out of a 4 bay, 18,000 sq. foot facility at 986 Wall St. We pride ourselves on meeting and often exceeding customer service expectations by providing superior quality work, competitive pricing and timely service.
