CTR Northern came onto the scene in the mid 90’s as there was a need for our sourcing experts to support communities in Nunavut. With over 25 years of sourcing and shipping experience, our team is ready to support any request large or small.
Christine Bourrier, our Customer Success Agent, has been in festive gear all week in honor of her French Canadian heritage. She even gave Fred (our mannequin!) a matching belt to salute the Festival Du Voyageur which is Winnipeg’s largest winter festival since 1970. The mission of the festival reads:
“Promote joie de vivre and extend the reach of French language and culture throughout the year through artistic, educational, historical and cultural experiences inspired by the voyageur era.”
This year the festival is hosting 8 days of virtual concerts and the city is filled with beautiful snow sculptures created by some of our city’s finest artists.

Wowza! Winnipeg is in its second winter snap for 2021 and we are thinking about our neighbors in the North. We probably sound like wimps compared to the ambient temperatures of Nunavut and surrounding areas – and it is true! We are not the best at embracing these low temps and higher winds, but we are sending our best wishes to the North and we hope the sun is shinning warm and bright tomorrow.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, to reduce the number of employees on-site, CTR employees have been given the option to work from home. It is hard to believe that it has been 9 months of working from home for some of our staff, but everyone is safe, and the joys of technology allow us to be equally efficient off-site and from the comforts of our home offices. We would like to send a shout out to the following folks who are doing their part during these hard few months……
To Krysta, Angela, Colleen, MJ, Bryan, Jessica, Kim and Pat – we miss seeing you in the office and working by your side but thank you for all your work as your contributions to the team and to our customers haven’t skipped a beat. In recent years, it has become a CTR holiday tradition for all employees to receive either a chicken, turkey, or ham for their family gatherings. This year the tradition continues and with a bit of a twist as we are not permitted to have large gatherings during code red restrictions. This year, each employee received one small chicken and a small ham to accommodate two meals per household.
Shout out to our suppliers Toledo Foods and Granny’s Poultry!! We appreciate your support; we can always count on you for an amazing meal during the holiday season.
